Letter from the Director
Welcome to the website of the Centro Universitario de la Defensa (CUD), Zaragoza. We are a public institution of higher education, affiliated with the University of Zaragoza and located within the grounds of the Academia General Militar (AGM).
The 2010-11 academic year significantly changed the curriculum of our cadets by adopting the guidelines of the European Higher Education Area, meaning that these cadets will obtain two qualifications: a degree in Management Engineering and a commission as an army lieutenant. One of the goals of the CUD is to provide the technical development for the degree in Management Engineering for future army officers.
The CUD was founded with a clear vocation for excellence in its service to society. Not only do we want our students to obtain a good scientific background and professional competence, but we want to ensure that the training we provide complements their military instruction so that our students can acquire the traditional values that characterise our armed forces.
While our primary task at present is preparing students for the Degree in Management Engineering, the CUD will, in the future, offer other degrees such as that of a Master’s Degree, which will complement the ongoing training of the professional interested in pursuing such studies.
A good university professor or lecturer has to know first hand the pleasure of discovering new ideas in science so they can convey that enthusiasm for knowledge to their students. At university, teaching and research are equally important, and thus research activities will be promoted as both fundamental activity and in its applications. Our members of staff are all highly qualified teachers and researchers, with a clear commitment to achieving the goals of the CUD.
We hope that these pages will help you learn about the CUD, its activities, news, etc. We welcome any suggestions or information which might enable us to become more effective in achieving our objectives.
