Noelia Marcano Aguado obtained her Degree in Physics in 1999 and her PhD in 2005, both in the University of Cantabria.

She joined the Quantum Matter Group at the Cavendish Laboratory (Cambridge) as a Postdoctoral researcher from 2006 to 2007 with a MEC/Fullbright Fellowship.  She was focused on the chemical and hydrostatic pressure effects on the magnetic properties of strongly correlated electron systems.

In 2008 she joined the Magnetism of Solids group at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Aragón (CSIC-Universidad de Zaragoza) as a JAE-doc postdoctoral researcher. Her current research interest lies in studying low dimensional nanostructures for advanced applications in electronic devices. This main line involves the analysis of the magnetotransport properties of micro- and nano-structures by means of micro- and nanolithography techniques. She is coauthor of key papers in the Condensed Matter research area (see list below).

She has been awarded with the Young Scientist Awardat the 10th International Conference on Muon Spin Rotation, Relaxation and Resonance held in Oxford (2005) and VI Premio de Investigación Consejo Social  (University of Cantabria, March 2007). In 2011 she  was appointed by The Degree Commitee of the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry at the University of Cambridge as Examiner of Phd. Thesis  "Pressure Tuned Magnetism in d- and f- eletron materials" by Mr. R. S. Haines"
