Welcome to the Zaragoza Defense University Center's website (Centro Universitario de la Defensa, CUD-AGM). It is a State owned higher education center attached to the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR) and located within the facilities of the Academia General Militar (AGM).

Law 39/2007 on the military career established changes in the training of our cadets in order to adapt it to the guidelines of the European Higher Education Framework. It includes that before being commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant, it is necessary to obtain a previous BSc Degree of the General Education System.

The main mission of CUD-AGM is to provide the necessary education to obtain the aforementioned university degree for future Army officers at the same time that military education and training is provided to them (during 5 yearly courses).

The BSc degree in Industrial Management Engineering was selected to be provided by the CUD-AGM to the cadets. Likewise, the center provides tuition in other advanced courses such as the University Master's Degree in Administration and Management of Defense Systems Acquisitions or the Higher Level Training Course in Cyber-defense. It is expected that in the near future, the list of postgraduate courses taught will be expanded, and include other degrees and doctorate studies that complement the training of professionals in the Armed Forces.

CUD-AGM was born with a clear vocation for excellence at the service of Spanish society and, in particular, its defense. Its main objective is not only to obtain excellent scientific-technical training for our students and professional instruction to achieve excellent officers for our Army, but also to perfect the traditional values ​​that characterize it.

This spirit of service will be manifested by itself, in the search for excellence, in the rest of its activities, which will include, among others, the development and participation in research programs that provide results of application and utility for our Defense; and helping to promote the Defense Culture in our Society.

Personnel involved in the CUD-AGM activities attend to a double vocation of service to the Society: Defense and Education. Both activities require, in addition to that vocation, an altruistic spirit, clearly committed and sacrificed, and reach their maximum satisfaction in the accomplishment of duties.

CUD-AGM, like its other sister centers in the community of interests and objectives, brings together two rich traditions of our society, the military and the university, which must be preserved, maintained and projected. The synergy of both is manifested in an expansion of the results offered and in a conservation and memory of the important presence that both institutions have always had in our country.

Given the welcome to these pages, I hope that the information that the reader finds in them will serve to have a better understanding of this institution. Similarly, I would appreciate any suggestions or additional information that could improve the effectiveness of our work.
